Netanyahu and Biden talk as Israel considers its response to Iran.

The prime minister of Israel and US President Joe Biden spoke in a highly anticipated phone call that is thought to be their first in some weeks.

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Benjamin Netanyahu and President Biden are believed to have talked about Israel's response to Iran's missile launch last week.

US Vice-President Kamala Harris participated in the 30-minute call on Wednesday, according to the White House.

Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared shortly after the call ended that his country will launch a "deadly, precise, and above all surprising" retaliation attack against Iran.

"They will not understand what happened and how it happened, they will see the results," Gallant stated.

"Direct and very productive" was how White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre characterized the discussion between Biden and Netanyahu.

Israel claimed that since starting its ground assault in southern Lebanon on September 30, it has launched more than 1,100 airstrikes.

In an update released on Wednesday night, the Israeli Air Force stated that, as part of the combat in Jabalia, it had hit 300 targets in northern Gaza in addition to Hezbollah's locations using fighter jets, helicopters, and remotely piloted aircraft.

Netanyahu has previously declared that Iran will "pay the price" for the Iranian barrage, which Tehran claimed was a reaction to Israel invading Lebanon and killing prominent Hezbollah figures, such as the late Hassan Nasrallah.

While defending Israel's right to reply, the US also seemed to be attempting to contain its reaction to Iran.

According to Lebanon's government, nearly 1.2 million individuals have left their homes in the last 12 months. In authorized centers for the displaced, there are close to 180,000 individuals.

Furthermore, over 400,000 individuals have escaped into the conflict-torn country of Syria, comprising over 200,000 Syrian refugees. The UN refugee agency chief referred to this situation as "tragic absurdity."

Hezbollah, a powerful Shia Islamist political, military, and social organization in Lebanon, has persevered in the face of several terrible setbacks in recent weeks, including the murder of the majority of its senior military commanders and its leader.

The group reaffirmed on Monday that it was "confident... in our resistance's ability to oppose the Israeli aggression."

After a year of cross-border fighting prompted by the war in Gaza, the Israeli government, which considers Hezbollah to be a terrorist organization, has promised to ensure that tens of thousands of displaced residents can safely return to their homes near the Lebanese border.

Since Hezbollah started launching missiles into northern Israel on October 8, 2023, a day after its affiliate Hamas carried out a fatal attack on southern Israel, hostilities have progressively increased.
